LEAD21 is the premiere leadership development program for current and future leaders in land grant universities’ colleges of agricultural, environmental, and human sciences and USDA/NIFA. The purpose of LEAD21 is to develop leaders who link research, academics, and extension in order to lead more effectively in an increasingly complex environment, either in their current position or as they aspire to other positions. Through engaging and collaborative learning, participants learn about themselves, develop a national network of peers, and develop the skills to effectively lead people through change. The CALS Dean’s Office would like to sponsor at least one faculty or academic staff member to be part of the LEAD21 program for Class 17 (2021-2022). The Dean’s Office will pay the registration fee and any travel costs for program participation. Past CALS participants include Michael Peters, Scott Rankin, Mark Rickenbach, and Karen Wassarman.

Current and emerging leaders are encouraged to consider this program as an important professional development opportunity. To nominate someone in your department, center or unit, or to self-nominate, please send application materials to Julie Scharm at Julie.Scharm@wisc.edu by Oct. 8, 2020.

Application materials include a CV and a brief summary (600 words or less) of the following:

1. Why the individual is interested in the LEAD21 program, and
2. How this program would benefit the individual, his or her unit, and/or the college overall.
