New Campus Opportunity on Global Warming and Sustainability

The UW Gaia Project is pleased to announce an opportunity for you to join a learning-action group on a topic related to climate, energy, and sustainability issues.

The project provides a focus for the hundreds of staff and faculty who responded to a Spring 2006 University Committee survey and expressed interest in opportunities to study and plan activities related to global warming with their campus colleagues. Campus action-learning groups are designed for people who are concerned, but not necessarily expert. They will be small, self-selecting, informal and self-directed. Most groups will select a text or reading list to guide their discussions. More active groups can plan and carry out activities.

Groups organized around specific topics will start up over the next few weeks. To find information about group topics and sign up for a group, please visit the Gaia Project web site at To see a list of groups, including subject synopses and initial meeting plans, use the Working Group Topics menu link. To sign up for a group, first click on Create a New Account. Then go to the “Groups” link on the left margin, locate the group you wish to join, and hit the “subscribe” link.

If you are not able to attend the first meeting, please sign up for the group so you can be contacted regarding next meetings.

We hope that you find one or several topics that will attract your participation in this effort, or that you will suggest an additional topic that interests you.
