Still time to share your Dairy Innovation Hub ideas

Hub faculty director Heather White jots down notes on ideas related to growing farm businesses and communities.

Thank you to CALS faculty and staff who recently participated in a brainstorming session focused on the Dairy Innovation Hub. This session was an opportunity to discuss plans and priorities for how Hub funding will be invested in the coming years. Brainstormed ideas from the session can be viewed here.

If you were not able to attend the session — or if you were and thought of an additional idea later — please take a moment to submit your ideas via this survey. Your response is requested by Feb. 1.

Ideas from the brainstorming session will be combined with external stakeholder discussions and survey responses to help inform priorities for faculty hiring in the last round of hiring for the Hub. All decisions will be vetted by the Dairy Innovation Hub Leadership Committee, Advisory Council and UW–Madison Steering Committee.

Broadly, the funding approved by the Joint Finance Committee will support research personnel (faculty, postdocs and graduate students), equipment, farms and labs in four areas related to dairy that each span many academic disciplines:

  • Stewarding land and water resources
  • Enriching human health and nutrition
  • Ensuring animal health and welfare
  • Growing farm businesses and communities
CALS faculty and staff attended the Dairy Innovation Hub brainstorming session on Tuesday, January 17.
