Reminder for supervisors: Performance Management expectations

Conducting performance evaluations during the COVID-19 pandemic is important for a few key reasons:

  • The COVID-19 pandemic is requiring flexibility and rapid response to change. The importance of frequent communication between supervisors and employees is at an unprecedented level.
  • Consistency in processes like performance management are crucial to maintaining engagement and normalcy to this otherwise unsettling time.

Please start planning for 2020 Annual Summary Evaluations and aim to complete those anytime between January 1 to March 31, 2021. If you haven’t already done so, please complete the following:

  • 2019 Annual Summary Evaluations
  • 2020 Mid-point Conversations

Be aware UW-Madison’s Performance Management for Managers and Supervisors policy states “supervisors and managers must complete all required performance management activities in accordance with this policy in order to be eligible for certain pay adjustments.” Reference UW-Madison’s pay adjustment policy for more information.

Performance management resources include training links and job aids. PMDP is a tool fully accessible via NetID login and DUO authentication. Employees working remotely can continue to access and use PMDP to record formal performance management documentation.
