This e-mail was sent to all CALS faculty and staff on July 8, 2020.
We are hearing many concerns about news related to ICE policies for international students and we share your concerns. Yesterday, Chancellor Blank released a statement describing the actions UW–Madison is taking to better understand the implications of this policy.
The Office of International Students is planning town halls for UW staff who advise international students and one for all students on an F-1 student visa. Details about today’s webinar from 4-5 p.m. for UW staff and tomorrow’s webinar from 8-9 a.m. for students on F-1 visas is pasted below.
This information is recent, and, in addition to seeking a Congressional intervention, UW officials are still determining the implications for our programs. As we learn more, we will share details through our normal communication channels, including eCALS and regular meetings with department chairs.

Dear Campus Partners,
On July 6, 2020, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) released updated guidance for F-1 enrollment for fall 2020. Campus partners and students are asking many questions about this situation. The ISS Leadership Team invites you to take part in a town hall to hear about these updates and share where to access the information on our website. Chancellor Blank released a statement today.
The Town Hall on Wednesday, July 8, from 4-5 PM, is specifically for campus partners. ISS Leadership will share what we know and how this impacts our students. Following a brief presentation, you will have a chance to ask questions. A separate session for international students will be hosted on Thursday, July 9, from 8-9 AM.
Please join us via WebEx. This session will be recorded and posted online after it is captioned.
