CALS Wellness Committee tip: Manage your fear and stress
The following, with modifications, was sent in an June 11, 2020 email from StayWell:
By now, you’ve likely read about how unprecedented these times are. But, wow. There is a lot going on right now.
If you’re feeling worried, rest assured that you’re not the only one. It’s a healthy response.
Acknowledging and dealing with your worry can help keep you from full-blown anxiety that paralyzes you. Try some stress-relieving activities, such as:
- Exercising (try the workout videos on the Resources section of the Well Wisconsin portal)
- Meditating (try the Provata VR app—you can read more about it in this email)
- Eating a nutritious diet (try the recipes on the Resources section)
- Another proven way to manage stress and anxiety is spending time in nature
You can also work with a StayWell health coach to create a personal stress management plan that’s tailored to your challenges and your life. Call 800-821-6591 to set up a phone meeting, or schedule a video chat on wellwisconsin.staywell.com or the app.
Practicing self-care is as important as practicing and demonstrating care for others, be it your family, friends or community at large.
