LSC student’s website showcases African American scientists

Extracted from the Life Sciences Communications website: Thomas Jasen Gardner, a returning adult student majoring in Life Sciences Communication, is a retired electrician, a Vietnam battlefield medic, a graduate of the UW Odyssey Project and a published author of editorials and newspaper articles. A lifelong learner, he hopes his return to college will inspire more black males to stay in school. In particular, he hopes to spark an interest in the African American community in pursuing careers in science and technology.  He has developed a website about African American scientists both to showcase the important contributions of the past and to inspire African Americans today to go forward and make new discoveries.
