CIAS seeks ideas for innovative grazing projects

CIAS and GrassWorks are partnering on the Blue Sky, Greener Pastures project to take grazing to the next level in Wisconsin. We need ideas from graziers and other interested people for innovative grazing projects to develop proposals for funding.

To that end, three regional meetings have been scheduled. All run from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm with lunch provided. The dates and locations are: Monday, October 25, 2010, Ramada Inn, Richland Center; Wednesday, November 3, 2010, Eau Claire Travel Center, Eau Claire; and Monday, November 8, 2010, Winnebago County Fairgrounds, Oshkosh.

Please RSVP to Stephen Thomforde with the date(s) you can attend at 608-441-9048 or (If you are unable to RSVP, but find later that you can attend, PLEASE come!)

Also, for those of you who are graziers, please consider taking part in a brief survey about problem weeds in pastures and how you manage them. This survey will provide information for current and future research projects and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. All answers and comments will be completely confidential and will be released only as summaries in which no individual answers can be identified. Contact UW Madison graduate student Marie Schmidt at if you have any questions about the survey. To access the survey please follow this link:
