Nominations are invited for the Beers-Bascom Professorship in Conservation. The Beers-Bascom Professorship was established in the late 1970’s in honor of Mr. William Beers, former CEO of Kraft Foods and President of the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation. The Professorship recognizes faculty members in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences who have established and maintained outstanding research programs and excellent teaching and/or outreach programs in the broad area of natural and environmental resource conservation and management. The professorship is granted for a five-year period. A faculty member may hold the professorship for more than one five-year term, however, incumbents must compete with other eligible candidates for subsequent five-year awards. The current five-year term ends June 30, 2010. Therefore, a new appointment or a reappointment will be made for the period July 1, 2010-June 30, 2015.
Enclosed is a copy of the expectations of the Beers-Bascom Professorship in Conservation as developed and approved in October, 2000. Please submit nominations to my office by February 15, 2010. The nomination packet should include a complete curriculum vitae of the nominee and a cover letter summarizing the nominees accomplishments in research, teaching and outreach/extension. Please include documentation of the impact of those accomplishments in the broad area of natural and environmental resource conservation and management, including recognition by peers.
We look forward to receiving your nominations.
Ray Guries, Interim Dean and Associate Dean for Research
