New book on food culture has a Wisconsin flavor

There’s a Wisconsin flavor to The Taste of Place: A Cultural Journey Into Terroir, just released by the University of California press. One chapter entitled “Tasting Wisconsin – A Chef’s Story” features the story of Odessa Piper, an longtime area chef who received a UW-Madison honorary degree thanks to the efforts of the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems and rural sociology professor Jack Kloppenberg. The story references many Wisconsin producers who have collaborated on projects with CIAS. The book’s author, Amy Trubek, is a Madison native.
