USAID requests comments on new Horticulture CRSP

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced the opportunity to review and comment on a draft concept paper for a new Horticulture Collaborative Research Support Program (CRSP) to be funded by the Office of Agriculture in the Bureau of Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade (EGAT/AG).

USAID plans to issue a Request for Assistance (RFA) later this year to accept proposals to implement a new Horticulture CRSP. The concept paper describes the proposed purpose, objectives, and key elements of the CRSP. The concept paper does not constitute an RFA. The solicitation will be through the normal RFA process whereby only Title XII universities and their public and private sector partners may submit proposals. A Leader with Associates Cooperative Agreement (LWA) will be used to implement this program.

The concept paper was developed by EGAT/AG as a point of discussion and outreach to consult with the broader community of stakeholders, including USAID missions, regional bureaus, universities, and the private sector.

Your comments are requested to help finalize the program description and structure for the Horticulture CRSP.

Comments need to come to OAA. OAA will then distribute them to EGAT/AG. Please send your comments and questions to Ms. Leona Sasinkova ( by February 22, 2008. The concept paper and comments will be discussed at the meeting of the Board for International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD) on February 27, 2008 at the National Press Club, 529 14th St., NW., Washington, D.C. (13th Floor). The Horticulture CRSP concept paper can be found at the FedGrants.Gov website located at
