The 22nd Annual American Red Cross Holiday Blood Drive will be held on Monday, December 24 at the Exhibition Hall of the Alliant Energy Center from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. Free parking, childcare, refreshments, entertainment and great raffle prizes are provided! Each donor, volunteer and attendee will also receive a special recognition gift. Help promote this event by downloading an event poster and displaying it around your department.
In the spirit of the holiday season, please consider giving blood. Giving the gift of life—blood—only takes about an hour, but can mean the difference between life and death for patients in need. In fact, more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day throughout the United States.
The power of your blood donation potentially reaches further than you might expect. Your Gift of Life will not only touch the patients you may help save, but their grateful loved ones as well. Blood recipients look forward to the same things you do around the holidays – sharing good times and good health with friends and family. The only difference is they need blood donors like you to make their dreams a reality.
The blood supply is particularly vulnerable throughout the holiday season because donors are traveling and may forget to schedule a blood donation appointment. Giving blood now can help build the supply throughout the season, ensuring enough is on hand for patients in the weeks to come. Make giving blood an annual tradition.
The American Red Cross would like to invite you and your One-A-Week #111 members to donate blood at the Holiday Drive. Please encourage a family member, friend co-worker and first-time donor to give blood also. Please feel free to post the materials enclosed to help us with the promotion of this life-saving event.Blood donation appointments can be made by calling 1-800 GIVE LIFE or online at www.givebloodgivelife.org. Anyone who is at least 17 years old, weighs at least 110 pounds and who is in good health may be eligible to give blood.
It’s a challenge: The club with the highest number of donations given at the holiday drive will win a special prize and plaque!
Thank you to all of the OAW members that have donated recently. Keep up the great work!
