Tell students about April 19 entrepreneurship event and 100-hour Wiscontrepreneur Challenge

Please encourage budding entrepreneurs to attend the “Make Your Passion Your Profession” student event on Thursday, April 19, from 5:00-6:00pm in the Red Gym. That event will feature presentations by some student entrepreneurs, including Badger Men’s Basketball player Jason Chappell, who will discuss his own business: an apparel line entitled JCHEEZY. The event will also promote Technology Business Plan Competition presentations the following day and offer plans for a Fall 2007 Entrepreneurship “Boot Camp.”

But the chief point of the event is to getting the word out to students about the 100-hour Wiscontrepreneur Challenge. This fun, exciting and creative contest that’s open to all students currently enrolled at UW–Madison. That contest is one of the topics on the agenda at

All participating students or teams of students will be given a $10 voucher redeemable for purchase of an object available at the UW’s SWAP (Surplus With A Purpose) Shop. Students will then have 100 hours to take their best shot at doing something entrepreneurial with their SWAP object. The clock starts at 6 p.m. on April 19 and stops at 10 p.m. on April 23 — 100 hours.

The winner for each of the following categories will receive a $300 cash prize:

* Most value (money) generated
* Most social value generated
* Most creative

In addition, a $100 “people’s choice” prize will be awarded to the entrant whose submission is accessed/viewed online by the most people.
