College seeks to hire an academic planner

The College has a new position open — that of an associate academic planner. The position vacancy listing, PVL# 55164, is posted online at www.ohr.wisc.edu/pvl/pv_055164.html. That PVL lists the following under “Principal duties.”

“This position reports directly to the Dean and Dean’s Executive team, which includes the Vice Dean and Associate Dean of External Affairs and is responsible for comprehensive, analytical, academic planning support. This position is responsible for working as part of the Dean’s level team and follows broad guidelines to support the Dean with external and internal constituents in regards to various research, instruction and academic issues through the development of policy papers that present analytical information and outlines alternatives. Respond directly to clients regarding sensitive issues in Dean’s absence and may identify alternatives and recommendations.

“Research will involve collecting and analyzing information concerning research, instruction and academic issues. Develop policy papers that summarize information to prepare Dean for presentations, stakeholder meetings and national and regional meetings. Determine, develop and or draft appropriate materials including PowerPoint presentations, proposals, policy papers outlining alternatives and strategies for the Dean, Vice Dean and Associate Dean for their participation in university, community and national arenas. Plan and develop background materials for strategic meetings concerning a broad range of issues facing the college. This would include being responsible for ensuring effective action and implementation. Implement a system to effectively manage the status of pending projects and issues; including being directly responsible for successful completion and timely closure. Assist the Dean’s team by representing CALS at various campus and system committee meetings.

“Identify and assist in the development of new policies, procedures and administrative structures that will enhance relationships with appropriate college stakeholders, legislators, campus administration and strategic partners. Activities would include planning, assessing and executing various strategic approaches to implement college initiated programs for research, instructrion and academic areas.

“Serve as an active participant to assist to developing the College’s strategic plan.”
