Nominate students for WALSAA outstanding sophomore awards by Feb. 1

The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association (WALSAA) is offering 10 $1000 scholarships to current outstanding sophomore students for the 2007-2008 academic year. WALSAA needs the help of CALS Undergraduate Student Advisors and Departmental Chairs in identifying these students.

WALSAA’s goal is to recognize outstanding sophomores from a variety of CALS majors. In order to be eligible for one of the scholarships, the student must currently be a CALS sophomore who has completed at least 24 but no more than 50 credits at the end of the Fall 2006 semester. Credit numbers exclude any retroactive or advanced placement (AP) credits. We are looking for students with a strong academic background and involvement in outside activities such as work, student organizations or community groups.

Please call Karen Knipschild at 263-7984 or e-mail to provide names of up to three students deserving of a scholarship based on academics, student activities, leadership and work experience no later than Wednesday, February 1, 2007. Based upon written application and personal interviews of the finalists, ten sophomores will be selected to receive scholarships. The winners will be announced at the end of March.
