UW Prevention Research Center seeks proposals for Special Interest Project Competitive Supplements grants – due Jan. 9

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Prevention Research Center (UWPRC) invites UW–Madison researchers and community partners to submit proposals in response to the 2024 Special Interest Project Competitive Supplements (SIPS) grant opportunity released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Funding is available for projects aligned with 13 Special Interest Projects (SIPs) identified by the CDC to inform public health practice. Only one application for each SIP can be submitted by the UWPRC. If you are interested in applying, please submit a 2024 SIP Interest Survey by Jan. 9 at 12:00 p.m. CT to begin an internal application with the UWPRC. The deadline for the UWPRC to submit full applications is March 4.

Eligibility
Competition is limited to institutions with a Prevention Research Center (PRC). The UWPRC may submit one application for each identified SIP. Project leads must be eligible for or hold Principal Investigator status at UW–Madison.

Awards
Funding amounts and funding periods vary based on SIP. The funding period begins September 30, 2024. Full descriptions of SIPs can be found in RFA-DP-24-062.

SIP-24-001: Understanding the needs of ovarian cancer survivors – $500,000 total for 2 years
SIP-24-002: Survivorship care plans and mortality among adult cancer survivors – $700,000 total for 2 years
SIP-24-003: Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network (CPCRN) – $1,500,000 total for 5 years (Component A); $3,375,000 total for 5 years (Component A & B)
SIP-24-004: Gauging men’s reaction to relabeling of GG1 prostate cancer and understanding of pathology reports – $1,050,000 total for 3 years
SIP-24-005: Understanding the impact of reducing social isolation and loneliness on health indices among cancer survivors – $1,200,000 total for 3 years
SIP-24-006: Nutrition Obesity Policy Research and Evaluation Network (NOPREN) – $1,500,000 total for 5 years
SIP-24-007: Physical Activity Policy and Research Evaluation Network (PAPREN): Policy implementation research to advance health equity – $1,500,000 total for 5 years
SIP-24-008: Managing Epilepsy Well (MEW) Network – $900,000 total for 3 years (Component A); $1,050,000 total for 3 years (Component A & B)
SIP-24-009: Arthritis Management and Wellbeing Research Network (AMWRN) – $1,250,000 total for 5 years (Component A); $1,500,000 total for 5 years (Components A & B)
SIP-24-010: Mental Health and Chronic Disease Prevention Network (MHCDPN) – $1,500,000 total for 5 years
SIP-24-011: Assessment of MMR immunization interventions for children in close-knit communities with longstanding vaccine hesitancy – $200,000 total for 1 year
SIP-24-012: Advancing Research in Immunization Services Network (ARISe) – $1,750,000 total for 5 years (Component A); $2,000,000 total for 5 years (Component A & B)
SIP-24-013: Understanding the potential of schools in promoting non-mandated childhood vaccinations – $1,500,000 total for 3 years

Submission
If you are a researcher or community partner interested in applying for SIP funding, please complete the 2024 SIP Interest Survey by Jan. 9 at 12:00 p.m. CT. Completing the survey initiates your internal application with the UWPRC. Full applications are due to the CDC on March 4 and will be submitted via the UWPRC.
