Regents approve spending plan for new Extension positions
In the 2021-23 State Budget, $8.25 million of new General Purpose Revenue (GPR) funding was included in the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) supplemental appropriation for UW System. This includes $1 million in new funding for Extension positions in the Division of Extension and College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
“Supplemental appropriations” require UW System to go before the JFC with a request that details how the UW System intends to use the new funds. Earlier in November, the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents unanimously approved the JFC supplemental appropriation request, including the spending plan for Extension positions. The request will now be submitted to JFC for consideration. The UW-Madison Office of State Relations expects the JFC will act on this request before the end of the calendar year.
