CALS Awards: University Staff Recognition Award recipients
Continuing with our celebration of this year’s CALS Awards recipients, we are sharing information about the winners of the University Staff Recognition Awards.
Lindsey Jensen

Lindsey Jensen is an animal care technician at the Arlington Agricultural Research Station. Lindsey is a person who takes cow-care very seriously and cares for each animal on the farm with great passion and expertise. Because of her consistent “can do” attitude, staff follow her lead, come to her with issues, and rely on her to provide the correct guidance. She is a team player and looks out for her fellow staff members. She not only cares for the animals but for the people as well.
Lindsey is always willing to go above and beyond to help. She has a tremendous amount of patience when working with new employees and strives to exchange knowledge and information with everyone she works with.
Lindsey stays abreast of the latest industry trends to make her more proficient in her craft. She can be counted on to work effectively in every area of the research station whether that be in the milking parlor, operating large equipment or caring for neonatal calves. She strives for excellence and gives it her all no matter where she is working, and her training and knowledge make her versatile. She is an asset to the research station and UW researchers.
Terri Wipperfurth

Terri Wipperfurth, the administrator of Taylor Hall, brings extensive knowledge to her position and to the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics in areas of both fiscal and HR management, as well as a deep understanding of the operations within a complex organization. She is always considering ways to create efficiencies and improvements in the workplace. Terri has represented the department on several college-level committees and is respected for her thorough and thoughtful contributions.
Terri is the creative force behind many administrative improvements in Taylor Hall. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Terri held the department together. She made sure both faculty and staff felt valued and worked to quickly address any communication issues that arose from the change in work routines. She also facilitated a smooth transition back to a new normal.
Department leadership has relied on Terri’s institutional knowledge, and during times of transition, she has served as a guiding force for the department. She has also been instrumental in creating a workplace environment that is welcoming, inclusive and fun — a talent that is greatly appreciated by her colleagues.
Tony Ziehmke

Tony Ziehmke is the facility manager at Arlington Agricultural Research Station and is a valuable resource at the station in solving day-to-day building maintenance and project needs. He takes great pride in his supervisory duties and willingly assists his team whenever needed.
Tony is always mindful of the research station’s goals and long-term vision. He constantly evaluates current processes and brainstorms ways to improve efficiency. Researchers who use the station know that when a problem arises, Tony is responsive and dependable and will work to solve the problem right away.
Tony played a key role in minimizing the impacts from a fire that happened at the station last summer. Tony’s leadership saved equipment from being lost in the blaze, kept staff and rescue workers safe and expedited the recovery process. His leadership that day went above and beyond.
