This summer, Allen Centennial Garden has a new series of creative workshops and is pairing its popular free jazz concert series with the opportunity to drop in and build a flower bouquet or flower crown for $10. Every other Sunday, we invite you to come for the flowers and stay for the music. Starting at 4 p.m., drop in for a $10 mini-workshop. Depending on the week, we’ll have flower crowns or bouquets to build. At 5 p.m., check out our jazz lineup. June 25 features MJO: Madison Jazz Orchestra. The full music lineup can be found here: https://allencentennialgarden.wisc.edu/summer-concerts/. Concerts run from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. Feel free to come for the flower activity, the music – or both! Of course, we think rocking the crown and representing the garden at the concert is the best option.

Want a more in-depth experience? Register for one of our garden workshops. Each Wednesday evening, we’ll cover a different topic from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Come to deepen your skills in plant care, flower arranging, or plant-based art by yourself or with friends. Some upcoming programs include flower pounding and houseplant level-up. Flower pounding is the enjoyable art of smashing flowers, leaves, and stems with a hammer to dye beautiful, colorful patterns into fabric. Houseplant level-up teaches the art of hydro-dipping (a.k.a. water transfer printing or marbling) ceramic pots so you can have the coolest-looking houseplant pot in your family, while sharing plenty of tips for how to best care for your houseplants. Workshop prices range from $20-$55 per person and will be hosted at Allen Centennial Garden. 

Alternatively, groups can book a private workshop! Our workshops are a fantastic bonding experience and can be booked during the week or weekend in June, July, August and October.
