CALS faculty encouraged to participate in “Entering Mentoring Facilitator Training” workshop

The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) invites registrations for Facilitating Entering Mentoring, a 6-session online facilitator training workshop designed to increase the capacity for research mentor trainings offered at colleges and universities, research institutes, and governmental organizations. This training is for those who would like to facilitate Research Mentor Training Seminars using the Entering Mentoring curriculum. This is a wonderful opportunity for departments and training programs to develop mentor training resources to support the training of mentors. There are campus resources through WISCIENCE and soon through the new Center for Teaching, Learning, and Mentoring to help coordinate and evaluate your trainings. There are limited seats available.

Registration Details:

Please register by completing the following registration form. As part of the registration process, you will need to upload a professional photo or headshot as well as a brief bio (max 250 words) describing your title, research focus, mentoring experience, and interest in facilitating mentor training. This information will be shared with other participants.

The deadline to register is February 7, 2022. Enrollment for this workshop is limited to 24 participants. Registration will close when capacity is reached.

Workshop Costs: Registration fees for this event are fully subsidized by the UW-Madison Institute for Clinical and Translational Research.

Workshop Overview:

During this 6-session online “train-the-trainer” workshop from March 7-11, 2022 (full schedule below), participants are introduced to Entering Mentoring, a mentor training curriculum that addresses the following key topics: maintaining effective communication, aligning expectations, addressing equity and inclusion, assessing understanding, fostering independence, promoting professional development and articulating your mentoring philosophy and plan.
