April 2021 update from University Bicycle Resource Center

End of the semester home stretch!

Our next bicycle maintenance class, “Shifting and Derailleurs Class – Virtual,” will be on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 6:00pm to 7:30 p.m. Learn the basics about how your bicycles gears work and how to keep them shifting smoothly. You can have your bike handy to follow along or you can just watch. Free class taught by India Viola, local bicycle advocate and educator. Pre-registration on Zoom is required, with no attendee cap. Once you are approved by the host, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the session. Register at (please note the underscore at the end of this address!).  If you miss the class, a recording of this class should be available after the event.

A Youtube playlist for recordings of all of our past virtual classes is at You can also see a list of our planned spring/summer classes with registration links at by scrolling to the bottom of the page.

The shop itself will continue to be closed for the spring semester out of an abundance of caution due to the high number of touch points and in an effort to try to limit the spread of COVID-19. We have high hopes to hire new staff for fall 2021 and hopefully be able to reopen then for drop in DIY bike work. However, in the meantime you can still perform DIY bicycle repairs at outdoor air and repair stations located throughout campus (see the map at ).

Here’s hoping things warm up soon so we can get out and enjoy our bicycle riding!
