UW-Madison has updated some software licenses, which could be used for instructional purposes, and continues to make hardware available to students. Here are some key updates as of August 31, 2020.
Student laptop checkout: To facilitate remote learning, laptops are available to students for check-out or longer-term rental. Contact CALS Academic Affairs through email@example.com for information how how students can secure laptops.
TechSmith Camtasia is now available for all employees, and can be made available to students upon request, through the Campus Software Library.
UW-Madison recently purchased a limited number of standalone Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, etc) for in-class academic student use. The purpose of these subscriptions is to replace the Adobe Creative Cloud access students had in on-campus computer labs prior to COVID-19. These licenses should only be used by students currently enrolled in classes that require Creative Cloud to complete assignments or projects. Even though UW-Madison is centrally funding these subscriptions, they are far from free, and only those who have instructional needs will be provided access. Please help us conserve this resource for academic use.
Instructors: In order to show your class on the allowed-list for students to download licenses, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information regarding your class:
- Instructor name
- Subject (e.g. COM ARTS), Catalog Number, Course Title
- The class number of the main section (usually lecture section) of your course. Adobe Creative Cloud Licenses will only be provided to the students on these class rosters. Instructors can find their class number in their Faculty Center using these instructions NOTE: sections of cross-listed courses will have a different class number for each subject.
- Indicate whether the course requires Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, etc) or Acrobat Pro-only.
- Reason license is needed (needed for assignments, projects, etc).
