Parking permits: Aug. 4 deadline for Round 1 offer acceptance, Round 2 applications
The following message was sent to all CALS staff by e-mail on July 27, 2020, by Doug Sabatke and Therese McHenry:
This message serves as the ONE AND ONLY email reminder regarding the deadlines for accepting first round personal parking permit offers and for applying for personal parking permits in the second round if you have not already applied.
Please note that if you applied in the first round of parking and do not accept your offer by the end of Tuesday, Aug 4, it will be FORFEITED and you will need to apply again.
Good afternoon,
This message is being sent to all CALS faculty and staff in regards to personal campus parking permits for the 2020-21 parking year. If you do not park on campus, please disregard.
All parking for the first round has been processed and emails have been sent out to inform parkers of their offers. If you are unsure of the status of your parking assignment, please see below.
If you applied for parking on or before June 26 and need to purchase your permit or did not receive an offer email:
Please refer to the attachment titled “Purchasing Permit” for instructions. Your deadline to accept your parking offer is Tuesday Aug 4, 2020. Failure to accept your lot assignment by Aug 4 will result in forfeiture of your parking permit and you will need to reapply.
If you received a parking offer in the first round and want to verify you have accepted/purchased your permit:
Please refer to the attachment titled “Verifying Permit Purchase” for instructions. If you applied for parking on or before June 26, 2020 and think you purchased your permit but are not sure, do not have a receipt of purchase, or do not receive your permit in the mail by Aug 2, I highly recommend double-checking as your offer will be forfeited if not accepted by Aug 4, 2020.
If you still need to apply for parking for the 2020-21 parking year:
Please refer to the attachment titled “Applying for Permit” for instructions. The deadline to apply for parking in the second round of assignments is Tuesday Aug 4, 2020. Offers will be sent out by Aug 6 and the deadline to accept offers made in the second round will be Aug 18.
We understand that given the unique circumstances of this year, parking decisions may be difficult to make as choices made now may have impacts through the end of the permit year in Aug 2021. There is unfortunately no one-size-fits-all answer as to what to do about parking offers. Many are making the decision whether to forfeit a permit offer and not pay until more is known about return to work, or to accept an offer and pay for a permit that may not be used at this time but secures a desired permit type and/or location.
Visit https://transportation.wisc.edu/permits/annual-permit-availability/ to see lots that currently have open availability in the next round of parking visit. However, please note that with the extraordinary situation this year, lots that are not listed may have available permits in the future. We suspect that there will be a higher number of permits, especially baselot, returning to the pool of available passes than in a normal year. This page is updated following each round of parking.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Therese McHenry, primary unit transportation coordinator for CALS.
Thank you,
Doug Sabatke and Therese McHenry
