This past Monday, June 29, 2020, marked a milestone for the meat science program in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences.

On that day, the final harvest took place in the department’s Meat Science and Muscle Biology Laboratory, where meat processing research, outreach and teaching has been taking place for the past 90 years. The program’s next harvest will happen in campus’ new Meat Science and Animal Biologics Discovery Building after it opens later this summer.

The final harvest involved processing hogs for donation to area food banks through a partnership with Vita Plus.
