Over the next few weeks, eCALS will highlight each winner of a 2019 CALS Award. Winners were recognized at an award ceremony on Wednesday, May 1.
Congratulations to Jamie Nack, recipient of the Academic Staff Award for Excellence in Leadership. Nack is a senior wildlife extension specialist in the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology. She regularly fields questions about Wisconsin wildlife and shares knowledge and solutions with thousands of people each year. She helps others manage wildlife at large-scale events, such as Wisconsin Farm Technology Days and Garden Expo, and she is a regular guest on the Wonderful World of Wildlife with Larry Meiller.
In 2003, Nack took over a workshop series called the “Coverts Project,” which is designed to educate landowners about wildlife and woodland stewardship. Since then, she has interacted with over 500 landowners who collectively own over 5,000 acres of woodland. She has also established “Your Land, Your Legacy,” a workshop focused on estate and succession planning for family woodland owners.
In addition to her tremendous state-wide reach, Nack is a thoughtful teacher, respected mentor and active participant in the CALS community. This entry was posted in Awards and honors and tagged Extension, forest and wildlife ecology by caschneider3. Bookmark the permalink.
