CALS Wellness Committee tip: Get moving with UW Rec Sport’s Step Challenge

The CALS community is invited – and encouraged – to participate in the Staff Step Challenge, a fitness competition that’s being hosted by UW Rec Sports from now thru Feb. 28. This friendly competition uses activity trackers or smart phones to record your steps, and prizes will be awarded to top steppers at the end of each month.

The division with the highest percentage of participants will also be awarded a prize. That’s us, CALS! We can join this challenge and show campus we are steppers this winter.

You’re probably thinking it’s winter and it’s too cold to walk outside or to travel to the gym. Keep in mind: One easy way to get some daily exercise this winter is simply taking the stairs. It improves cardiovascular fitness and strengthens muscles, among other health benefits. Whether it’s two flights or 20, you’ll help improve your health if you take the stairs.
