Karthik Anantharaman, assistant professor of bacteriology, is in the midst of a scientific oceanic adventure. He’s part of a team that’s currently on the research vessel R/V Atlantis somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, diving to deep-sea hydrothermal vents in the submarine HOV Alvin.
