Allen Centennial Garden serves as an outdoor classroom for UW–Madison students and surrounding communities, providing meaningful learning opportunities for visitors of all ages. Together with campus partners from UW Housing, GreenHouse Learning Community and the Wisconsin Master Gardener Program, Allen Centennial Garden will be hosting the “Plant Adoption Day” program, which aims to provide a free house plant to 500+ UW–Madison students. The event will take place at the garden from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 14.
Studies show that house plants boost concentration and productivity, reduce anxiety and improve mood. Through Plant Adoption Day, the aforementioned partners hope to expose UW–Madison students to the power of plants and create a community of plant lovers.
