Opening reception for “Genetic Reflections” art exhibit on May 31
The campus community is invited to attend the opening reception for “Genetic Reflections,” a public science art installation created by Madison-based artist Angela Johnson in collaboration with UW-Madison genetics professor Ahna Skop. The opening reception runs 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 in the UW-Madison Genetics/Biotech Center, located at 425 Henry Mall. An overview of the collaboration will take place at 3:15pm in room 1111 Genetics/Biotech Center, with a reception to follow.
The piece is permanently installed outside of the UW-Madison Genetics/Biotech Auditorium, across from room 1360.
The science art piece is designed to highlight genetic research on campus and encourage visitors to interact and support science.
Funding and supplies for the installation were provided by the National Science Foundation, the UW-Madison Biotechnology Center and MRSEC.
NOTE: A traveling component of the piece is available. If interested, contact Ahna Skop at skop@wisc.edu.
