Michael King will join the CALS Office of External Relations and Advancement team on January 1 as a communications specialist. In this role, King will produce photographic, multimedia and written content for the college’s news service, websites, Grow magazine and other communications outlets.
King comes to CALS from the Wisconsin State Journal, where he worked for seven years as a photojournalist. At the paper, King was responsible for producing daily news, sports and feature photography, as well as video and social media content, as needed. Earlier, he worked at the Green Bay Press-Gazette and the Appleton Post-Crescent as a visual journalist and photojournalist, respectively, producing photos, videos and audio slideshows.
King earned a bachelor’s of science degree in visual communication in 2007 from Ohio University, where he majored in photojournalism, specializing in the areas of sociology and cultural anthropology.
He is an active member of the National Press Photographers Association. He joined the organization while still in high school in 2002, and has been on the NPPA’s board since 2009. He is currently serving as vice president.
King is stepping into the role previously held by Sevie Kenyon, who retired in summer 2017
