Daniel Gianola honored by Chinese university
Daniel Gianola, Sewall Wright Emeritus Professor of Animal Breeding and Genetics in the UW-Madison Departments of Animal Sciences and Dairy Science, was recognized as “Honorable Professor” (Chinese equivalent of Honoris Causa) by Hunan Agricultural University in October 2017. He was also an invited speaker at the Chinese Society of Animal Breeding and Genetics and talked about “Brief History of Statistical Methods in Animal Breeding.” His lecture was attended by more than 1200 participants and followed online by close to 8,000 Chinese students and scholars. Together with Guilherme Rosa, UW-Madison professor of animal sciences, he taught a course on prediction of complex traits at Beijing Agricultural University.
