Nominations sought for 2017 UW Administrative Improvement Award

Please consider nominating a colleague – or a team of colleagues – for a 2017 UW-Madison Administrative Improvement Award. The award recognizes exceptional performance in administrative roles supporting academics, research, student services, outreach or administration.

The Administrative Improvement Award is intended to recognize outstanding work in process redesign/development or customer service/delivery that resulted in improved efficiency, increased revenue channels, cost savings and/or improved service delivery. It also emphasizes collaborative work.

This awards program acknowledges that our students’ success is supported by the operations and administration of the university. Such efforts are critical to UW-Madison’s mission and are very much appreciated.

Among the criteria for evaluating nominees are:

  • The improvement was a collaborative effort, and the work was approached in an inclusive manner.
  • Data were gathered and used in decision-making.
  • Time was taken to identify and understand the needs of the customers.
  • Metrics were identified to measure results.

All current UW-Madison employees serving in an administrative role that supports student services, research, academics and administration are eligible for the award if they are:

  • Academic Staff
  • University Staff
  • Limited Employees
  • Faculty
  • Student Employees
  • Employees who contribute to administrative duties
  • Employees who contribute to student services

Nominees can be an individual or a team. Submissions for individuals may reference multiple examples that demonstrate a sustained focus on administrative improvement. Anyone on campus may submit a nomination(s). However, self-nominations – either from an individual or a member of a team – will not be accepted.

The nomination form and guidelines are available online at and the nomination deadline is March 31, 2017. This year’s awards will be presented at a special campus ceremony to be scheduled near the end of the spring semester.
