Register now for upcoming EI brown bag sessions

The following is a message from Steve Cramer, UW-Madison Vice-Provost for Teaching and Learning:

This is a reminder to join us for the 2016-17 EI Brown Bag Series. The series provides faculty and staff with the opportunity to learn about educational innovations in teaching and learning, build connections with colleagues, and share best practices and campus resources.

Upcoming EI Brown Bags
1. Reframing the Wisconsin Experience – Wednesday, Nov. 9, noon-1:15pm, Union South (TITU) – Register now
The Wisconsin Experience is the learning experience we aspire to provide to undergraduate students during their time at UW-Madison. It is a combination of academic and co-curricular experiences leveraged by our institutional values. As a campus, there is an expectation that we will provide the environment and the opportunities, and that students will do their part to seize them.

During the past academic year, hundreds of faculty, staff and students across campus provided input on how to reframe and more clearly define the Wisconsin Experience. We ultimately arrived at four core concepts, which each include a set of action-oriented expectations of students. Please join us for a discussion about these concepts, and to identify how faculty and staff can help communicate these expectations through their courses and programs.

– Lori Berquam, Vice Provost for Student Life, and Dean of Students
– Steven Cramer, Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning, and EI Co-lead

2. Adopting Canvas at UW-Madison – Tuesday, Dec. 6, noon-1:15pm, Union South (TITU) – Register now
Based on positive results from pilot studies and campus feedback, UW-Madison is transitioning to the Canvas learning management system (LMS) over the next two years. The plan is to adopt Canvas as the single, centrally supported LMS on campus, and to discontinue campus support for D2L and Moodle by 2018.

Canvas is being used in over 660 credit-based courses this fall, with more set to transition this spring. Join members of the Canvas Transition Team to learn about next steps, available resources and how to transition or enhance your courses using Canvas.

Kind regards,
