Last weekend, the American Cheese Society held its annual competition in Des Moines, IA. The Best of Show award went to Roelli Cheese Co.‘s “Little Mountain,” a cheese developed with help from the Center for Dairy Research.

According to this Milwaukee Journal Sentinel story, Chris Roelli, co-owner of the cheese factory near Shullsburg, credits John Jaeggi of CDR with helping him develop and perfect the cheese that won him this year’s prestigious award. Roelli describes Little Mountain as a hard Alpine-style cheese and says he is now working to fill orders for the award-winning product.
