WEI 2015 Annual Report now available
The Wisconsin Energy Institute recently released its 2015 annual report. Amongst the report’s content, a number of energy-related projects involving CALS researchers are featured:
- John Ralph (Biochemistry) and Fachuang Lu (Biochemistry): Engineered softwood could transform pulp, paper and biofuel industries
- Gregg Sanford (Agronomy): Six-year study suggests perennial crop yields can compete with corn stover
- Mehdi Kabbage (Plant Pathology), Fachuang Lu (Biochemistry) and Fengxia Yue (Biochemistry): Biofuels research uncovers natural fungicide
In the report’s Awards and Highlights section, Chris Hittinger (Genetics) and Garrett Suen (Bacteriology) are acknowledged for being named Alfred Toepfer Faculty Fellows. Ronald Raines (Biochemistry) is recognized for receiving an award for excellence in research from the American Chemical Society.
Daniel Amador-Noguez (Bacteriology) is noted in the report’s 2015 grants list for receiving a second year of funding from the BioEnergy Science Center for his work improving yeast for biofuels.
