In celebration of the holiday season, Allen Centennial Gardens will be hosting a “Living Ornaments” workshop on Saturday, Dec. 5. At the event, which runs 10 a.m. – noon at the gardens, participants will create their own ornaments featuring Tillandsia, a.k.a. “air plant.”
Tillandsia, like other ephiphytes plants, have evolved to grow in the canopies of trees, and derive their nutrients and water from the air around them. With little care, these plants can continue to grow and thrive for many years.
The workshop fee of $30 (or $24 for Friends of the Allen Centennial Gardens members) will include supplies to make three ornaments. When registering, attendees can opt to purchase supplies to create additional ornaments at $10/ornament. Seasonal treats and refreshments will compliment the morning.Events and tagged horticulture, allen centennial gardens by Nicole. Bookmark the permalink.
