Warren, who was part of the Sweet Scientists team that took first place in the recent season of The Amazing Race, was a guest on NPR’s Science Friday on July 17 in a segment titled “Total meltdown: The rate of ice cream collapse.” In the segment, host Ira Flatow asks Warren to explain how an ice cream sandwich left outside for a day could appear to be whole, unmelted. The answer gets into some pretty serious ice cream chemistry, with Warren discussing fat globules, air bubbles, ice crystals and more.
