Proposals for D2P Igniter Award program due March 15
The second round of the Discovery to Product (D2P) Igniter Award program is open for proposals. Submissions are due Sunday, March 15, and more information can be found at the D2P website at http://d2p.wisc.edu/igniter-enrollment.htm.
D2P is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Wisconsin Alumni Foundation. It cultivates entrepreneurship on campus by providing funding and resources for faculty and students as they transform ideas into products and companies. The Igniter Award program is funded by an Economic Development Incentive Grant from UW System and directly supports commercialization of select UW-Madison discoveries to “ignite” new companies.
The first call for proposals in March 2014 received 172 submissions. D2P was able to fund 15 of those projects, moving them from proof of concept to commercialization. Eight of those projects are now moving toward startup formation and two others toward licensing.
