Chris Todd Hittinger: From dinosaurs to yeast evolution

Chris Todd Hittinger, a CALS assistant professor of genetics and GLBRC researcher, is the subject of a nice profile story and corresponding video (above) that were recently produced by the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center.

The article, which gives a broad overview of Hittinger’s research interests and program, starts with the story of how Hittinger first became interested in yeast evolution (via his boyhood interest in dinosaurs) and then goes on to explain how his current research could help lead to a cure for cancer as well as clean-burning “superfuels” of the future.
