UW-Madison Faculty Teaching Awards
Nominations Due: Monday, 1 December 2014
The Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award, Chancellor’s Inclusive Excellence Award, Class of 1955 Excellence Award, William H. Kiekhofer Teaching Award, Emil Steiger Teaching Award, and Van Hise Outreach Teaching Award all recognize outstanding and exceptional teaching by faculty of any specialty or rank. Nominations are accepted from faculty members, departments, or student organizations, and should be coordinated with the chair of the nominee’s department. NEW AWARD! — Please note the addition of the “Chancellor’s Inclusive Excellence Award” to UW’s Faculty Teaching Awards. This award results from the UW-Madison Diversity Framework and is offered this year for the first time.

Hilldale Awards and Hilldale Lecture Series
Nominations Due: Monday, 15 December 2014
The Hilldale Awards recognize distinguished contributions to teaching, research, and service and are awarded annually to one faculty member in each division. The Hilldale Lecture Series showcases distinguished thinkers whose contributions to contemporary culture and science have received international recognition and acclaim. One lecture is funded annually in each division. Nominations are accepted from department chairs. Lists of past recipients and nominating procedures are available at

Academic Staff Excellence and UW System Awards

Nominations Due: Friday, 9 January 2015 (UW-Madison Academic Staff Awards)
Nominations are being accepted of academic staff who exemplify the sustained excellence, outstanding achievement, and creative initiative that characterize UW-Madison. In addition to two UW System awards for program and individual excellence, the UW-Madison awards comprise the Chancellor’s Hilldale Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research, the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Service, the WAA Awards for Excellence in Leadership, the Robert and Carroll Heideman Award for Public Service and Outreach, the Martha Casey Award for Dedicated Service, and the Ann Wallace Career Achievement Award. Genevieve Gorst Herfurth Award for Outstanding Research in Social Studies
Nominations due: Thursday, 15 January 2015
One award is made annually to a currently enrolled doctoral student in the social studies who has demonstrated outstanding research and scholarly writing accomplishments while a graduate student at UW-Madison. Nominations are accepted from social studies faculty and multiple nominations are accepted. Nominating procedures are available at
