Apply now for 2014 academic staff professional development grants (how-to workshops next week)
The UW Office of the Secretary of the Academic Staff has posted a request for proposals on their website for Fall 2014 Academic Staff Professional Development Grants to help fund Spring 2015 professional development activities – activities that begin between January 1, 2015 and June 30, 2015. The office will also host two brown bag lunches on “Writing a Successful Professional Development Grant” next week. See details in “Application Information” below.

Deadlines
- October 17, 2014 – Online Proposal Submitted Electronically to department chair/unit head
- October 24, 2014 – Department chairs and unit heads electronically approve proposals
- November 7, 2014 – School/College/Division Dean/Director electronically approves proposal
- November 7, 2014 – School/College/Division Dean/Director emails ranked list of applications to the Secretary of the Academic Staff (if applicable)
- The date for the announcement of the grants is TBD
Proposal Evaluation
Proposal criteria includes: relevance and justification of activity; use and impact; program and university benefits; and overall quality of application. A sample scoring sheet is available here: Scoring Sheet
