Next Tuesday: How to get engaged (with your alumni)

calsCPlease mark your calendar for the next CALS Communicators Group meeting, set for 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3 in 6201 Microbial Sciences Building.

The upcoming meeting will cover alumni communications, with a focus on newsletters.

First off: Does your unit have a printed newsletter or an e-newsletter? If yes, please grab—or print out—20 copies of a recent issue to share at the meeting. These materials will be incorporated into our discussion.

The meeting will start with a panel discussion about the strategies behind CALS Connections (e-newsletter for CALS alumni), Grow magazine and the Wisconsin Energy Institute’s e-newsletter. The panelists will also lead a discussion about—and offer feedback on—departmental newsletters that people bring to share that day. This will be a great chance to get feedback on your unit’s newsletter—and see what other units’ look like.

We’ll also hear about pertinent findings and recommendations of the CALS Alumni Engagement Working Group (established through the CALS Strategic Planning process), which released their final report this past March.

Panelists include Joan Fischer, editor of Grow magazine; Kara Luedtke, development specialist at CALS; Matt Wisniewski, media specialist at the Wisconsin Energy Institute; and Heidi Zoerb, CALS assistant dean for External Relations and Advancement.
