In Wisconsin, nothing says summer like ice cream. So as we head into this summer season, I’d like to invite all faculty and staff to gather on Bascom Hill, celebrate the close of another academic year, and sample a little bit of summer.
The annual Employee Appreciation Ice Cream Social is set for Thursday, May 15, beginning at 2 p.m. on Bascom Hill. We’ll serve free ice cream until 3:30 p.m., or until we run out, whichever comes first.
I am very excited to be dishing out my signature flavor, Bec-Key Lime Pie, from the Babcock Hall Dairy Store. Other scoopers will include College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Dean Kate VandenBosch, who will be serving up the CALS 125th anniversary flavor, Happy Cranniversary, and Geology Museum Director Richard Slaughter, who will be offering the 165th anniversary flavor, Fantastic Jurassic.
Other administrators, deans and directors will be scooping as a gesture of thanks for your hard work and dedication this academic year. Plus, we’ll be joined Bucky Badger and the marching band.
In addition to ice cream, there will also be sherbet and frozen yogurt. Dairy-free items are available upon request.
Work units are encouraged to be flexible with employees to allow them to come to Bascom Hill, or are encouraged to hold celebrations in their own locations. In the event of rain on May 15, we will gather in the Birge Hall lobby.
