Invitation to apply for Igniter funds

Dear Campus Community:

In early March we invited you to apply for Igniter funds that are available to help advance innovations toward becoming commercialized. We are pleased with the response, having received greater than 75 applications by the end of March.

This e-mail is a reminder that the next Igniter fund application deadline is April 20, 2014.  The subsequent and final application deadline is May 20, 2014.

The Igniter fund ($2.4M) was awarded to UW-Madison from a System-wide economic development grant. Igniter’s goal is to provide financial and business support for up to 10 UW-Madison pre-company innovations that can be commercial-ready (company start or licensed) by May 31, 2015. This is part of UW-Madison’s new Discovery to Product (D2P) initiative,

Important Information:  Please read these statements before filling out the Igniter Application.

• The information entered on this application will be treated confidentially, and will be reviewed under an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).  All proposals and any subsequent documentation will also be kept confidential and will only be used for Igniter evaluation and funding purposes.

The purpose of Igniter funds is to advance existing discoveries/innovations toward successful commercialization. Funding will be provided based on milestone completions. UW-Madison faculty, academic staff, classified staff, students enrolled in a degree program and postdocs are eligible to apply for Igniter funding. Application reviews are conducted by persons with business expertise.

To ensure consideration for Igniter funding, please apply by the next deadline of April 20, or the final deadline of May 20, 2014.
