Now in the seventh year, the UW-Madison Outstanding Women of Color Awards were established in order to recognize the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of women of color on campus.
Each year the committee is delighted to find women of color who are doing tremendous work on the campus and in the community. And the work and commitment we are honoring are not defined simply by their being women of color. The candidate selected for the title ‘Outstanding Woman of Color in Education’ truly merits the outstanding designation among all women in education.
Attached is the call to nominate women of color on campus and in the Greater Madison area, who are outstanding in their academic achievement and/or contributions to the life of the university and beyond, in one or more of the following areas:
- Social justice, activism and advocacy on behalf of disadvantaged, marginalized populations; community service;
- Scholarly research, writing, speaking and/or teaching on race, ethnicity and indigeneity in US society; and
- Community building on or off campus to create an inclusive and respectful environment for all.
Nominations for the Annual Outstanding Women of Color Awards are due by May 2, 2014. Please submit a completed package using the 2014 guidelines below for each nominee to Rex Loehe at firstname.lastname@example.org.
