CALS associate dean John Shutske will begin serving as interim provost and vice chancellor of UW-Extension on Feb. 17. He will be taking over for Aaron Brower, who will serve as interim chancellor of UW Colleges and UW-Extension, a post opened when Ray Cross was named UW System president.
CALS Dean Kate VandenBosch and UWEX Cooperative Extension Dean Rick Klemme are working to identify a candidate to assume Shutske’s responsibilities as a program director and associate dean.
Since 2008, Shutske has served as CALS associate dean for extension and outreach as the Agricultural and Natural Resources Extension program director within Cooperative Extension. In this joint role, he is responsible for educational programs in the state’s 72 counties, as well as the campus-based UW-Extension and applied research activities of more than 80 faculty and academic staff on the UW-Madison, UW-Platteville and UW-River Falls campuses.
“I look forward to working with our other UW System partners and supporting our UW-Extension deans and divisional directors as we build and grow one of the important and diverse two-way channels for the Wisconsin Idea,” Shutske said. “I’m also pleased to be able to build on the relationships I have developed through my role at UW-Madison CALS and UW-Extension and to continue to engage with community and state leaders, businesses, families and all those who benefit from UW-Extension activities.”This entry was posted in People and Departments by .
