Weds. World Food Day seminar looks at crop breeding, seed sovreignty and food security

October 16 is World Food Day.  Join Dr. Eva Weltzien from the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in Mali, West Africa working on crop improvement through plant breeding and participatory research with farmers and Dr. Jack Kloppenburg, UW Professor of Community and Environmental Sociology involved with the Open Source Seed Initiative. The event will begin at noon in 1116 Biochemistry. This poster has the details.

This kickoff event is organized by a new student group on campus called the International Agriculture Colloquium (IAC).  By bringing together speakers and events on campus IAC hopes to raise awareness and foster discussion on food security and some of the most pressing challenges our generation will face in the coming decades.  Become involved, learn more, and lean in to the discussion.
