Last Friday, the Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research announced the successful completion of its $16 million private fundraising campaign to renew and rebuild the CDR and Babcock Hall Dairy Plant. From the official launch of the campaign in April 2012, it took just eight months to secure the required pledges, primarily from members of the state’s cheese industry.
The next step for the project’s supporters is to make sure it gets included in the upcoming state budget. This project is important to Wisconsin industry, and this recent Cheese Reporter column by John Umhoefer, executive secretary of the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association, does a great job of explaining why.
