UW Slow Food Cafe hosts “Meet your Meat” lunch this Wednesday

In celebration of National Food Day this Wednesday, UW Slow Food is partnering with Red Meat Market, Black Earth Meats, REThink Wisconsin and other campus organizations to put on a special “Meet your Meat” Cafe lunch with food, games, a raffle and much more. Lunch will be served on Oct. 24 from 11:30 am – 2 pm in the basement of The Crossing, located at 1127 University Avenue.

Special events include:

  • Barlett Durand of Black Earth Meats will give a short talk at 11:30 am and stick around to answer questions and discuss meat for the rest of the Cafe
  • Red Meat Market will have a “Meet Your Meat” spin board for patrons to play
  • REthink Wisconsin will host a raffle to supporting their Farm Mobbing project
  • Bloom Bake Shop will provide free samples of bacon brownies and other sweet treats, including some options for the vegetarians
  • Bucky Badger will be on hand from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
  • UW’s Office of Sustainability will share information about Campus Sustainability Day
