Al Nemec’s charge: A more cohesive CALS web presence

CALS has a pretty sizable online footprint, but it’s a bit disjointed. Al Nemec aims to do something about that. One of his main assignments in his newly created position of web developer and coordinator in CALS Administrative Computing Services is to lead an effort to meld the diverse collection of websites that share the “” domain into a single, cohesive web presence.

“The idea is to improve the experience and information available to people who visit the CALS website,” Nemec explains. “There’s a lot of great information that people post online throughout CALS, but if it’s not presented in the right way, it can be lost, or at least missed. It’s about making it easy for readers to find information and making that information draw them in—to make them want to be involved in CALS.”

While his primary job will be developing a coordinated web presence and providing other web services for CALS administrative units—the Dean’s office, UP&S, research divsion, business services, human resources—he’ll also be able to serve as a consultant to CALS departments.
